Turn your English learners into science superstars!

Explore the role of cultural perspectives in learning science, understand the guiding principles of second language acquisition, and learn how to design instruction that will contribute to the success of your English language learners.

Participants will apply principles from TESOL’s PreK–12 English Language Proficiency Standards (2006), the Next Generation Science Standards, and current research to create a science lesson that aligns content and language standards, teaching methods, and student assessment in secondary science classrooms.

The course is divided into four modules:

Module 1: Language & Culture in Science Classrooms
Module 2: Science as a Second Language
Module 3: Aligning Instruction to Meet Needs
